At Zookbinders request we have removed photos of their album lines. Please check their website for photos and descriptions. Please honor that they also only deal with photographers and do not answer emails or calls from the public.

AlbumArt services the public and can handle Zookbinders orders for you. Zook Book Albums require a signed Usage Release from your photographer. A Usage Release on Photographer's stationary also works or Contract stating Release of Images for your personal use and album making.

Design Cost: We can design the Album Layouts for you and make the Prints or you can supply prints to us. Prints must be Photographic paper not inkjet prints of any kind.

The more images you have on a page the smaller they become. One image can fill a whole page of be the size of a wallet with a lot of negative space. Two images become smaller. Imagine 9 to 12 images on a page. Small!

Every book has an even number of pages/sides.

We have found estimating price of a digital album using 2-3 images per side works well in determining the number of sides of an album.

• 16 page books ( 2 solo pages & 7 spreads) can have from 16 to 48 Images
• 20 page books ( 2 solo pages & 9 spreads) can have from 20 to 60 Images
• 24 page books ( 2 solo pages & 11 spreads) can have from 24 to 72 Images
• 30 page books ( 2 solo pages & 14 spreads) can have from 30 to 90 Images
• 40 page books ( 2 solo pages & 19 spreads) can have from 40 to 120 Images
• 50 page books ( 2 solo pages & 24 spreads) can have from 50 to 150 Images
• 60 page books ( 2 solo pages & 29 spreads) can have from 60 to 180 Images
• 70 page books ( 2 solo pages & 34 spreads) can have from 70 to 210 Images

Bear in mind that most people want a mix of image sizes so the above 2-3 images per page is an average number of images per side. Some pages would have a single full page bleed image, others the same with one or two small inset detail shots, some with a mix of two to six images per page. Maybe a few sides with nine images. The higher the number of images on a side the smaller the images are displayed.

Select your images, you should edit them to insure there are not too many shots duplicated. Photo series are fun and can be included to add some fun and life to the design. Think of scene setting shots and details for background images if you like that kind of design. Close Up details shots are nice often run small or as a background image.

EXAMPLE OF COST: use to figure out your own scenario....

You select 100 images for the album. They appear light, dark, and some off in color. These are uncorrected files.
so use the $3/image design fee charge.

Design and Color Management Fee: 100 images x $3/image = $300.00

100 images divided by 3 average on a page = 34 pages

Print Costs: 34 10x10 prints @ $7.50 each = $ 255.00

Album Cost: 34 page 10x10 Zook Book = $455.40

DO IT YOURSELF:

SOME CLIENTS PROVIDE PRINTS READY FOR BINDING. So no design costs or printing costs, just album cost above.
We suggest using www.myphotopipe.com as a good lab for making your prints.

Prints must be sent to us to be permanently mounted in the album by Zookbinder's.

Back of prints must be clean from pen/sharpie markings, etc. OK for lab imprint. All other personal notations must be cleaned off. If prints are received with such markings, we will have to clean the back of the prints with PEC 12, an archival cleaning solution. It does not remove ink from writing pens. A cleaning charge of $25.00/hour will be charged. You also have a chance at permanently damaging the prints with too much writing pressure that transfers to the print front. Zookbinders will refuse to mount these prints. They are perfectionists. So the prints will have to be remade by you at your own cost.

Number prints on face of print using 3M Post-it Notes. Please use a # 2 pencil to mark the Post It Notes writing on the pad first then affixing to the face of the print. USE NO INK PENS.

Once all this is done , the prints are then forwarded to AlbumArt. We renumber as you specify "the Zookbinders way" then forward to ZB for permanent mounting in your album. The prints are sprayed with water based protective clear lacquer to seal the prints from damage. Do not have the lab spray the prints.

Prints are trimmed 1/8 inch on all outsides edges so leave 1/2 inch to outside edge for inset photos and type if you do design.

NOTE: It is best if you have access to your negatives/digital files in case a print gets damaged in handling/mounting, so that a reprint can be made. This only occurs once a year.
